History from 1789

July 9th, 1789, baptism of Pierre, first child of Jacques Hacala, ploughman, living in Argagnon (close to Orthez, France), and Jeanneton Darrifourquet from Pouillon (Landes, France). They got married in October 1789. They have two daughters : Marie (born March 25th, 1793) and Gracieuse (born Frimaire year VI -1797-).
In 1797, Jacques is enroled as a privateer on the Flibustier (captain Etienne Pelot). An official paper, dated Thermidor 22nd Year V (1796), testifies that he is enroled on this privateering ship from Saint Jean de Luz. The Flibustier is attaqued and captured close to Portugal by the ship Belliqueux. The last information we have about Jacques is that he is working as a coast gard officer.

August 4th, 1814, Pierre, Jacques's son is at the maritim inscription desk in Saint Jean de Luz. His father death is mentioned (without other details). He wants a permit to go to Terre Neuve. He tells the story of his capture on June 17th 1813 near Pasages (Spain) by an English boat and his return in 1814.
After several trips, he leaves France definitely March 26th 1816 and goes to Saint Pierre et Miquelon.
In Saint Pierre et Miquelon, he gets married to Madeleine Emilie Guillen. They have 6 children who are the ancestors of the HACALA family now still living in Saint Pierre.

September 3rd, 1814, Marie, Pierre's sister, has her first child (the father is declared unknown). She will have 4 more children (born from unknown fathers). 4 of her 5 children will survive and only one of then will have a son who is the ancestor of the HACALAs living in the Basque Country.
